The New Year has ushered in gracefully and smoothly for many people in the world but we know there are unfortunate human beings who did not experience it that way. We cannot control all our circumstances, that is the rub.

But there are people who do not have any significant adverse circumstance in their lives yet they are unhappy. The situation of happiness in human life is complex, which I have dealt with in many of my writings; the latest in the essay Is Happiness Possible?
